The challenge
Edupalooza is a not-for-profit that runs Australia's largest virtual conference for the education sector. It also runs an Event Hub for events that matter to international students, such as networking, social gatherings and professional development. As the number of events grew, they got harder to manage. Partners had no easy way to upload their events, which slowed things down and left event details inconsistent. Students needed a simple way to find events, filter them and register.
What we built
We ran working sessions to gather requirements, including how a student would move through the site from search to registration. We then built a new platform inside Edupalooza's existing website.
Partners got tools to upload and manage their events. Students got filters, categories and labels to narrow their search, and notifications about events that matched their interests. Each event page had the full details, and students could register from it directly.
Key features
- Upload and management tools for event partners
- Filters, categories and labels so students can narrow their search
- Notifications for events that match a student's interests
- Full detail on every event
- Direct registration
- Built into Edupalooza's existing website
Results
Over four months, ending with the virtual event, event uploads by partners rose 45% and event registrations by international students rose 30%. User engagement on the platform grew 25% within two months of launch. Users also gave positive feedback on how the platform looked and worked.
Why it matters
A hub like this only works if both sides find it easy. Partners got a quick way to publish, so there were more events to find, and students got a simple way to search, so more of them registered. Edupalooza's numbers rose on both sides over the same period.
